Chango

The last village of Kinnaur on the NH505 and this is exactly where the Spiti Valley reveals in front of you. An enormous canvas made of scree slopes, nature did a wonderful job with those bright f*ckin brush strokes. This little hamlet is surrounded by Chango Nalah and Kuru Water streams and they both meet the roaring Spiti river after dropping down like 7500 feet from the glaciers. These streams carrying mineral-rich water create an Oasis where they grow the sweetest apple, pees and apricot I have ever tasted.

The HRTC buses stop briefly at a makeshift bus stop which is pretty close to a water stream, locals made a temporary tiny reservoir and put a faucet on it. Next time, if you travelling on this road, drink a bit of it and you will regret each penny you’ve ever spent on the so-called “Mineral-Water” bottles.
